When the moon paints the landscape, it creates a feeling in us that’s completely its own—especially when you’re out in nature, far from any light pollution.

A view that feels ordinary and clear in daylight turns, in that yellowish dusk, into something mysterious—almost a little frightening. Mist drifting over the bog, filtering that pale light, adds to the secrecy and makes you think, or more accurately, feel that something normally hidden from daytime awareness is rising to the surface.

In moonlight you can see, but not in the same way as during the day—everything is shadowed, question-provoking…

People also say moonlight is like the human subconscious, or that the moon is a symbol of femininity. There are probably many opinions on that, but the romantic lyrics of countless songs have been inspired by moonlight.

I don’t know what people long ago thought as they walked along boardwalks in the moonlight, but in this image I see symbolism: the shadowy regions of the human mind, and moonlit planks as a path toward the light.
